Metro

MG2/1 (Metro, articulated, two body sections)

  • 5301 – 5363

MG2/1 series trams were manufactured between 1997 and 2001 to replace the rolling stock operated on the then North-South Line (now Metro Line D). The computer-controlled vehicles are also operated on Metro Line C. There is a driving cab at only one end. At the other end is an auxiliary driving cab. The computer system gives the driver and maintenance personnel rapid insight into malfunctions, for example. The metro driver can display information about the route by means of the passenger information system. All seats are placed in rows in a forward-facing position in the first 42 vehicles. Seats are also placed longitudinally facing each other in the last 21 vehicles.

The SG2/1 series is based on the MG2/1 series and the vehicles can be combined. The express-tram design provides a greater field of vision to the driver and has a pantograph to collect power from the overhead line and safety systems like alarm lights and indicators, a track clearer, a sand sprinkler and rail brakes. The vehicles were given a colourful interior in 2010 and 2011.
